The Rowan Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies and Asian Studies invites you to the Award Winning Film screening and discussion of the historical crime film “The Act of Killing” (2012) directed by Joshua Oppenheimer. This feature-length documentary details the events following the overthrow of the government of Indonesia by the military in 1965. A group of gangsters were promoted to death squad leaders and what followed was a mass killing that resulted in the deaths of an estimated one million people. This disturbing, evocative, and controversial work follows the perpetrators in present day. Please join us for this timely and important screening on Thursday 20 September 2018 at 7:00pm in James 3117. Pizza and popcorn will be served. All are welcome! The film will be followed by a discussion led by historian Joshua Gedacht.
